Luxury tours budget tips

Searching the best luxury holiday and you need to rent a car for your luxury vacation at affordable prices ? Here is a guide :

Would you like to spend a week or even a month in luxurious and peaceful seclusion complete with concierge service, a local chef, nanny service, and an array of bespoke services? It can actually be more affordable than you think. Just compare a week in a luxury four-bedroom villa to a week in two, 2-bedroom suites in a 5-star hotel, and you’ll be shocked at the savings. To make the deal even sweeter, travel with friends who will split the bill with you. And think about renting in shoulder season when crowds have thinned and pricing is even more lucrative.

Take a small spray bottle on holiday. Fill it with water and spray it over creased clothes. Smooth with your hand and leave them hanging up overnight to help remove creases. This tip contributed by smart traveller, Annie Leighton.

Most countries require a certain amount of time, usually six months, remaining on your passport, so don’t leave a renewal until the last few months.

To enjoy a real experience, eat where the locals eat. It may not always be glamorous, but don’t be afraid to try something new. Also, if there are lots of people eating there, the regular turnover of food will mean it’s fresh.

If you are interested in flying with a particular airline or staying at a particular hotel, sign up to their newsletter and watch out for special offers or sales.

Apply in time for travel documents (international passport & visa) when applicable. This information can also be found on the website of the government of your home country (cf. links above). Apply in time for ESTA (Electronic System for Travel Authorization) when you travel to/via USA, or for an eTA when you travel to/via Canada.

Plan your itinerary in advance. A helpful source to start looking for the perfect itinerary are the online travel guides of Rough Guides, Lonely Planet, and – my favorite – the Frommer’s guides (suggested itineraries are listed per destination). Alternatively, contact me if you have an itinerary related question.

Choose a cheap 5-star destination. When looking for a 5-star retreat think about the country first. You want a country where your currency buys a lot. Then find the luxury experience within it. From North America consider Central America. From the UK think Greece and Portugal. From Australia you have much of Southeast Asia within a reasonable long-haul flight.

Plan for a variety of accommodation styles. On a trip of more than a week I always plan for some budget accommodation, some mid-range, and some luxury. Truly, there are advantages to budget accommodation and by saving on a few nights in a cheaper hotel I can come in on budget even when I include a few nights at a more expensive one.

Suggested destinations : The Caribbean is never a hard sell and nothing is more romantic than actually having time to unwind and relax together-while wearing a teenie bikini of course. Antigua is one of my favorite islands because of the people and also its azure, clear seas, naturally. I stayed at the Carlisle Bay Hotel and still just can’t get over how amazing it was. My room was about 20 steps from the ocean. That is not an exaggeration. The snorkeling there was divine, too! Oh, and the resort was fabulous because they divided the property in two with children on one side and adults on the other. They even have special hours for families who want to dine so they don’t bug the grown ups. Gosh, I’m mean, huh? But that was truly a luxury! That and the sunset yoga class on the pier, the amazing restaurants and the passed treats on the beach! Absolute heaven. Here’s my advice to have The Perfect Luxury Escape to Antigua.
